As you can see from the document (downloadable below) Intel has some amazing state of the Art solution for Retail and one of those is the Multi Display Digital Shelf edge (sometime referred to as Shelf Vision or shelf strips!).

Intel offer excellent total solution packages but the Multi display shelf edge hardware is available from Crystal Display Systems as a finished shelf with 9 or 11 displays (or custom solutions upon request) including IP54 certified for in-store use.  But also as components so you can develop / design your own shelving / housing for your own project.
